Metaltown: MJ Tribute - "Beat It"

In tribute to Michael Jackson, Slipknot played the song Beat It as their outro instead of 'Til We Die. You can hear the song at the end of the video, which can be viewed below.

Slipknot - 10 Year Anniversary

[Slipknot 10 Year Anniversary]

10 years ago the debut album from the 9 piece band from Des Moines had its premiere. Slipknot went on their first real tour. They went on OzzFest and blew everyone away.

10 years ago the self-titled Slipknot album was something probably no body expected to hear, and Slipknot at that time was probably a band no body expected to see. Many people made fun of the band, of the way they looked, with all these masks and jumpsuits.
But Slipknot never cared. They said "Fuck You" and stayed true to themselves, stayed true to the music. Many things were against them. They were (and still are) a nine piece band from Des Moines, IA, with masks, playing brutal music. There were many people who said that the band won't survive, but after 10 years Slipknot is as strong, if not stronger, as they were back in '99.

June 29, 1999... That was the day that changed the music world. Well, actually the world was never the same after Slipknot's first show at OzzFest in West Palm Beach. People could witness the energy and complete insanity when Slipknot performed live. A month after Slipknot's first OzzFest show the self-titled album, a 15 song disasterpiece, had its premiere.

During these 10 years Slipknot infected many people, who changed into maggots. The real maggots are still with the band, and Slipknot continues their plan. And the plan is to infect as many people as possible. Infect them with the sickness. That's Slipknot.

10 years ago Slipknot changed everything. After that nothing was the same. And still nothing is the same. And nothing will ever be the same again.

Nothing...

Metal Hammer: Albums Of The Decade - Slipknot Vol. 3

Albums Of The Decade: Slipknot - Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)

Once a week on Metal Hammer, we’ll be picking one of the best albums of the decade and lavishing you with the story behind the record, related videos and links. To kickstart the series, we’re taking a look at Slipknot’s landmark modern metal masterpiece, ‘Vol.3: (The Subliminal Verses).

Coming off of the back of the ‘Iowa’ album, Slipknot had been painted as a band in disarray. At the risk of sounding a wee bit on the cheesy side, the press were painting them out as a band at war.

It’s well documented that the band were growing apart as people, interviews on the ‘Iowa’ tour had members firing pot-shots at each other from every angle and when Joey Jordison and Corey Taylor began to enjoy massive success with their side-project bands The Murderdolls and Stone Sour respectively, the future looked bleak for the 18-legged Des Moines noise machine.

With Corey Taylor talking about Stone Sour having a longer shelf-life than Slipknot and his drinking spiralling to an astonishing level, the band moved into Rick Rubin’s famed recording studio, The Mansion, to work with the bearded legend himself on the band’s third outing. With Rubin’s production technique being to leave a band for days and some times weeks at a time to hammer out their best material amongst themselves, this decision was a risk that could have ended the band for good.

Instead, Slipknot created a record that still stands as one of the very best metal releases of this decade.

While it was expected that the ‘Knot would tear each other limb from limb and many were already ringing the band’s death knell, they hammered out their differences, solidified as a unit and wrote an album that is considered by many the best of their career. Whether it was intended or not, Rubin’s alleged lack of participation inadvertently contributed to this finished product massively whilst the band took their melodic leanings to heights that it can be argued that no other metal act have touched in the noughties.

Did Taylor’s time in the more melodic-leaning Stone Sour contribute to this? It could definitely be argued so. The most impressive thing about ‘Vol. 3′ is that there’s so many great vocal lines without the band having to play down any of their trademark ferocity.

Want evidence of this combo? Listen to the rabid crowd at Download roaring ‘Clau-stro-pho-bic!’ and ‘cat-o-stro-phic!’ in ‘Before I Forget‘ while going seven shades of ape-shit. Indeed, when Slipknot released their self-titled record in ‘99, we never thought that they could top ‘Wait And Bleed’ for an anthem. The intro to ‘Duality’ at Download this year tells you how wrong we were. Evidence of this combination of beauty and brutality? Listen to 80,000 people screaming “nothing is what it seems!” from the same performance.

Slipknot also made a mockery of some of the accusations levelled at them prior to the release of ‘Vol.3′. ‘Vermillion Pt. 2′ was a haunting acoustic track that recalled Alice In Chains’ best acoustic moments whilst establishing Corey Taylor as one of the finest rock vocalists of his generation. Interestingly, ‘Vol. 3′ was also the first Slipknot record to not carry a ‘Parental Advisory’ sticker as Taylor wanted to dispell any preconception that his lyrics relied on swearing for shock-factor.

Quite simply, this is about as perfect as modern metal gets. The heaviest band to ever bring the mainstream to them, this is Slipknot’s finest hour.

Slipknot Planning Halloween-themed Tour For All

This is a piece of news that was posted on 105.7 The Point on May 20, 2009. You can read the news below.

Slipknot will spend most of the summer on the European festival circuit, but the Iowa-based group tentatively plans one more North American run before closing the books on their 2008 album, All Hope Is Gone. Singer Corey Taylor gave us some hints about what the band has in store: "The people who put together the Mayhem festival are talking about doing a short little festival that is horror-themed. The people who are involved in it kind of view that genre the way we do, you know. We tend to go more for the psychological than for the shock, you know, the schlock, really. So we're kind of putting it together as just a kind of little cherry on the top of this crazy year-and-a-half."

Taylor will play a few solo shows before Slipknot heads to Europe.

The vocalist and his other band, Stone Sour, will head into the studio later this year to begin work on a new record.

Slipknot Debut Album Reissue Coming In September

The Pulse of Radio reports that SLIPKNOT is slated to reissue its 1999 self-titled major label debut on September 9 to celebrate the record's 10th anniversary and the band's decade as recording artists, according to a label spokesperson.
SLIPKNOT has been commemorating the upcoming anniversary for much of the past year since issuing its latest record last August, "All Hope Is Gone".

Singer Corey Taylor told The Pulse of Radio that things couldn't be going better for the group at this point. "Everything that we've always wanted, and that we've always pictured for this band is kind of coming true in this last year and a half," he said. "You know, this is kind of the culmination of 10 years of just barreling through the mud, you know, sweating through the dark times, and this is really the payoff. And the great thing is, is that we're old enough to appreciate it."

No other details on the release, including whether it will include any bonus or previously unavailable content, have been announced yet.

The latest album "All Hope Is Gone" has sold 795,000 copies since coming out 11 months ago.

Kakashi The Wise Warrior

"The man, the myth, the legend - Kakashi Hatake! Kakashi is one of those rare guys who seems to be in control no matter what's going on around him. Whether it's tricking a few young pupils or staring down the leader of Akatsuki, he always stays level-headed.

Kakashi has accumulated a wealth of fighting power, even exceeding specialists like Might Guy in their abilities. Despite his raw talent, he's not the most powerful character in Naruto, nor does he possess a flashy technique. So, how does Kakashi stay on top of everything with almost every single fight?

The answer is wisdom. Kakashi possesses a great deal of intelligence, and he knows how to use it. In a world where unique and incredible abilities are the norm, Kakashi handles each situation with a rare, unerring grace. While his ability to copy any jutsu certainly helps, it's not the only reason he's a force to contend with.

What makes Kakashi so likable, and effective, is his dedication to the team no matter what. His experiences as a shinobi have taught him that working for the squad brings everyone home. It's such an integral part of his philosophy that he washed out every squad he taught because they failed his loyalty test (except for Team 7, of course). He knows that when a squad is greater than the sum of their individual talents, they'll always attain victory.

Ultimately, Kakashi is the kind of guy you'd want around in a dangerous situation. No matter what the enemy tosses at him, he adapts. Having the Sharingan certainly helps, but his battle know-how is superb in and of itself. Instead of relying on raw strength, he thinks ahead, plans his attacks, and ultimately outwits his opponents. That level of understanding is something from which any squad can benefit.

The thing to keep in mind is that Kakashi never lets his talent do all the work. He focuses on strategy, not strength alone. Where some, like Orochimaru, constantly seek power, Kakashi knows that no matter how beefed up someone gets, if they don't know themselves the enemy and the world around them, they'll always be doomed to fail."

Happy Birthday Itachi!

"A few weeks ago we celebrated the birthday of Kankuro, older brother and positive role model
Kakashi Wallpaper!
for the popular Gaara. Well, for Tuesday June 9 we switch gears a bit and offer a tribute to another older sibling, only this one isn't necessarily what you'd call a "role model." Akatsuki ringleader, dark and dangerous, with hidden motives and formidable powers, our man Itachi may yet be an influence on Sasuke -- if he doesn't finish him off first! Enjoy the new chock-full-o'-data Itachi wallpaper, and wish the mysterious one a happy birthday! (Cuz you don't want to get on his bad side, that's for sure.)

---

Who's on the Guest List for Itachi's Birthday Party?

Forget all those other conflicted characters in Naruto for a minute (Orochimaru, anyone?). There's really only one guy who's been pulled apart by the political machinations of Ninja World.

For a long time, we know Sasuke was looking for someone to take revenge out on. But we didn't know who that was or really, what that was for. Even Sasuke said for years that he was the last of his clan, the Uchiha.

Then his brother shows up... the one in all the flashbacks doing rotten things to his family [like in Original Series episode 129, Brothers: Distance Among the Uchiha]. And now we know that Sasuke's big bro not only joined the renegade Akatsuki ninja, but really had killed everyone in the Uchiha clan [played out in Original series episode 131, The Secrets of the Mangekyo Sharingan!].

Or did he? Once again, we aren't sure what this guy did or who he is. I mean, Sasuke is alive... albeit tortured and not just a little misguided himself. And he’d probably not be interested in his brother’s birthday party.

So who'd be there? Orochimaru? Itachi's burned that bridge too. Other family? Yeah, not too many of them that we know of... wonder why. The other Akatsuki? Not much of a party.

So I'm guessing that Itachi's skipping his natal anniversary. But that doesn't mean we can’t take some time today to reflect on one of Kishimoto's most intense characters. Whatever side Itachi's on, let's just be glad that we get to watch him!"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ITACHI!

Happy Birthday Kiba!

Happy birthday, Kiba!
"Ah, nothing warms the heart like the relationship between man and his best friend. And what better way to pay tribute to that relationship than to give a jaunty birthday salute to Kiba and his partner Akamaru, who comprise Naruto's leading man-dog tag team? Naturally we have a character wallpaper for this occasion (be sure to pick it up on our wallpapers page), but feel free to also add birthday wishes of your own, and read the following tribute by our writer David F. Smith...

---

Happy Birthday, Kiba Inuzuka!

And many happy returns to Akamaru while we’re at it, since Kiba’s constant canine companion doesn’t have an official birthday on the books. They’re hardly ever more than an arm’s length apart – especially when they morph into virtual twins – so it stands to reason they’ll celebrate together anyhow.

Kiba did a lot of growing up on his way into the Naruto Shippuden story arc. Not least because he somehow didn’t find his way into the spotlight for more than 30 episodes [Shippuden Episode 33: "The New Target"]. In all the rush to take off for the Sand Village at the start of the series, Naruto Uzumaki didn’t even find time to say hi to the guy.

On the other hand, Kiba did get a lot of exposure way back before the time-skip. He gave Naruto the beating of a lifetime during the Chunin Exams [Original Series Episode 44: "Akamaru Unleashed! Who’s Top Dog Now?"], and starred in a knock-down-drag-out with Sakon and Ukon as part of the team sent to rescue Sasuke Uchiha [Original Series Episode 120: "Roar and Howl! The Ultimate Tag Team"]. Still, that’s a long time to disappear off the face of the planet. Long enough for Akamaru to grow to…oh, maybe 10 or 12 times his original-series size?

Since then, of course, Kiba and Akamaru have made up for plenty of lost time. Chasing after Guren and the Three-Tailed Beast has been the perfect mission for Squad 8’s pair of sharp-nosed tracking experts [Shippuden Episode 94: "A Night of Rain"].

So here's to our boy and his dog, now that they're hopefully back on the trail with us for good. Just in case, though, we'd better make this celebration count. He might wind up spending next year's birthday fading into the background."

Happy Birthday Kiba!

Sonic Megamix Un-Canceled

An old blog post from Sonic Retro but I think this is interesting enough to keep you sonic fans hyped.

"Sonic Megamix, the most well known Sonic ROM hack, has returned to the public spotlight with a post by, community oldbie, Stealth at Sonic Retro. Stealth revealed that the drama that resulted in the project’s cancellation months ago was a complete misunderstanding. Therefore, it was only canceled for three days and the once Genesis, now Sega CD project has had work done on it since being resurrected. When Stealth finally revealed that Megamix was not dead a few days ago, he and other team members brought videos with them to show the amount of progress that they have made in private.

Despite publicly announcing Megamix’s return, Stealth did lay some ground rules that I certainly approve of.

With that said, you know how I feel about my projects, and this is no exception. It never has been, less of Tweaker’s over-zealous promotion. I am protective, and I will remain so. We will do what we please with this project, and on a time-table of our own choosing. Requests and questions about release dates are annoying and pointless. There will be no further demos, or even “private” beta-tests. Fact is, Megamix was supposed to end development with “version 4″ (at a later point in time), until this mess happened. There is no way we can possibly make another non-final release and keep it substantially fresh. Trust me – you’ll thank us when you have much more to play with all at once than one level at the end of the game and a couple of menu text changes

(…)

Finally, and this is important, we reserve the right to halt completely at any time. We owe a debt to no-one, and we don’t have to publicize any newer builds. All we ask for is some decency and respect. Don’t launch into actual complaints about how we choose to handle our business. Don’t rip us off solely for the sake of riding off Megamix fame. Also, don’t go asking for or looking for things that don’t belong to you. If we hear about the leaked material, or see it being spread/used, that’s it. If you want to do our jobs for us, we just won’t, and when you can’t handle it, you’ll only have yourselves to blame

The videos below showcases Megamix’s progress since its move to the Sega CD. The game is not only “Sonic CD” smooth, but now has CD audio, composed by DM Ashura of DDR fame. Megamix’s design continues to, in my opinion, bridge the old and new styles of Sonic. In addition to the classic Genesis presentation, new moves, such as the homing attack, and a higher emphasis on speed make their mark.

Now, if only the level design wasn’t so masochistic."

UFO's In The Land Down Under!

OMG There's a freakin UFO!!check this out to explain it!!

"Check out this new and very, very unnerving development from the land of Outback Steakhouse and Hugh Jackman. This comes on the heels of our story just two days ago! It’s really getting freaky-freaky down there. Big-ups to Devil127 and Fyrehawk for the tips and links
(story 1, story 2)

According to the “official” story, there was “no debris” or evidence of ANY KIND left in the crater…like some alien being did a galactic cannonball into the Australian desert and then just got up and WALKED AWAY. I want to stay clear of any *thing* — bot or not — that can do that! Imagine an elephant sitting on a juice box and you’re starting to get the idea. SQUIRT!

Let me leave you with this, a quote from one of the articles: “Space authorities said it was not uncommon for natural material to hit the earth, with about 100 tonnes of material entering the earth’s atmosphere every day.” That’s either 100 1-ton alien robots or 1 100-ton alien robot. I don’t know which I’d prefer. I think I’m going to go with NEITHER!"

Just A FLY on The Wall or LETHAL ROBOT SNIPER?

mav_1mav3

"Okay, guys, this one has got me climbing the walls with anxiety. The US Air Force Research Laboratory is developing a rash of new surveillance and attack robots, varying in size from a swallow to a FLY. These things sneak, stalk, sense, spy, and SHPLAZAAAM explode on enemy combatants. Thanks to the ever-vigilant Agent Elemento P for pointing out this article in Esquire (and how dapper of you to be reading Esquire, P), and check out the crazy animated demo vid it links to.

These lil’ BUGGERS, charmingly nicknamed “Suburb Warriors” are a great way to fight terrorists without collateral damage, and hey, what’s better than that. As Esquire says, “Instead of dropping Hellfires or a 500-pound bomb on an insurgent hideout, one or more Suburb Warriors could fire a volley of mini-missiles at confirmed targets, without vaporizing the wedding reception next door.” But what’s going to keep me up tonight, and for many nights to follow, is the fear of these palm-sized cuties falling into the wrong hands. Like maybe hands that can bring them to life and turn them on humanity? The struggle against terror will look like a beach vollyball game if that happens. Because, as the Esquire article concludes: “You can run from tomorrow’s robotic hitmen, and you can hide, and they’ll flap or squirm or glide into position and kill you anyway.”

Teleportation Coming Our Way

teleportation

Looks like those clever Aussies are back in the news, TRED-heads! Doctor Jiri Janoucek and his team at Australian National University have moved us one step closer to actual teleportation as this article explains.

The team has been working on developing super fast quantum computers, but in the process has “developed a new approach to generating quantum entanglement in beams of light using only two parts.” Apparently this is one step on the yellow brick road towards teleportation, though the humble Australian scientist admits, “we have made one of these pieces that is only a tiny bit of the whole idea.” So modest, Doctor!

But WAIT — maybe those giant alien robots that we’ve seen popping up like mushrooms all over the planet, are already USING teleportation like some kind of bridge through space! Maybe that explains how we keep spotting NBEs without their starships, eh? Maybe, just maybe, if there are some FRIENDLY robot ambassadors in the group, maybe they would even SHOW us how they’re doing it. Imagine the uses!

For starters, this TRED-stud would teleport himself to the LAP of Mistress Munn herself.

Iron Munn

Another post by LeoPonceDeLeonSpitz

"

Can barely type — too excited. Okay, I don’t know about you, but I LOVED IRON MAN (man in robot suit — SWEET!)! I mean, it couldn’t have been ANY better. Well, okay, it could have been improved in one way: they could’ve cast Olivia Munn in it.

But I’m now willing to forgive that oversight, because the filmmakers have obviously learned their lesson for the sequel, WHICH WILL FEATURE THE BREATH-TAKING MISS MUNN! Oh yeah, boyz, you heard me right!!! Set your clocks for May 2010!! Only 11 months to go….

OliviaMunn.com confirms the truth!"

Rovers On Mars and On Earth

1-rovers-comparison-625x340

"Agent Elemento P sent in a link to another alien robot story. We keep hearing about how humans are sending “rovers” to the planet Mars. But they keep crashing or getting wiped out somehow. Only two have made it and are moving across the surface — if we can believe NASA. And we all know how much we here at TRED trust the government. The images these robots are supposedly sending back look a LOT like the Nevada desert with a red filter on it. Come on, NASA, we all know how to do that effect on our laptops!

And those “rovers” look more like tiny and mid-size alien robots to me! I wonder if these are like those bots we’ve been seeing all over the world hiding (more or less) in plain sight. Which would mean NASA is on it, too. Of course! They’re probably using those things right now to track all of us truth-seekers down!"

Elemento Dear Watson Weve Got The Joint Covered,Now

reconfigurablerobot

"Once again, vigilant (vigilante?) Agent Elemento P comes through with a very cool link to this article about new technology in robot joints which makes them more compact and useful than ever.

As Farhad Aghili of the Canadian Space Agency explains in the article, “In a nutshell…the control system autonomously realizes the configuration change while demanding minimum actuation effort.” WHAA? What kind of an “explanation” is that? Even a tech-head like me is losing the thread here. But earlier in the article, we are told the robots have “passive joints that allow the arms to twist and change their length, depending on the task at hand.” The article continues, pointing out that “This kind of reconfigurable robot could have many uses in space, including performing inspections, assembling devices, and carrying objects. Aghili added that a reconfigurable robot like this one could also have applications in mining, nuclear power plants and the military.”

So it occurs to me that maybe THIS is how some of these mysterious folding robots we’ve been spotting are changing their shapes. Maybe this is a revolutionary concept to us, but it’s just elementary to them! But then that leads me to say HOLY TINKERTOYS, does that mean these moveable metallic “visitors” will soon be getting involved in our “mining, nuclear power plants and the military”??? Does that mean these chunks of steel and their little “passive joints” will soon be TAKING OVER our nuclear power plants?

Stay alert, TRED-heads!"

Me, Fass, and Sharkatron are gonna be surrounded by the hottest frosh babes in the whole school. We’re gonna get our freaky-freak on! College is going to be AWESOME!!!!

On a side note, Fass and Sharkatron are gonna be rooming together, which left me high and dry. Sharsky tried to get me a single, but no dice. I just hope my roommate isn’t just some kind of total dork.

Last, we just wanted to let everyone know that we gotta suspend operations on the site while we make the move to the east coast. Next time you see us, we’ll be blogging from college!!!

We’ll see all you dudes again when when get to the right coast!

This was just sent into TRED HQ and it’s got me REALLY looking over my shoulder now. I used to love me some remote controlled cars (trucks, tanks, whatever) when I was a kid! I even still have some in my room somewhere — I’m not using them, they’re just there. There’s nothing wrong with that. But anyway, now I’m thinking about destroying ALL OF THEM. First that model airplane from France goes nuts, now THIS! That thing nearly took out the ENTIRE WALL!!!!

The firepower from that tiny “toy” is INCREDIBLE. Imagine what a giant one could do! That model plane just ran those French dudes down. This tank could’ve taken out a whole city block! That kid and his dad are effing lucky! For some reason I just keep watching the vid over and over and a chill runs straight down my spine every time!

What do you guys think about this?

Me, i’m fueling the effing jet and packing my things for the east coast!"

6-year-old asks Norwegian King’s permission to be named Sonic X

"Six-year-old Christer was fed up with his name and sent a letter to Norway’s King requesting his name to be changed to Sonic X.

There’s a couple of things to explain before we continue with this bizarre story. Firstly, Christer wasn’t asking the King to change his name to Sonic X, though King Sonic X has a certain ring to it. Secondly, we’re not sure why Christer wanted the ‘X’ addition, since this was the simply title of the Japanese animé adaptation. Nevertheless…

Late last year Christer from Norway wrote a letter addressed to Norwegian King Harald V asking for his name to be officially changed to Sonic X, Norwegian newspaper and website dagbladet.no reports.

However, his parents were reluctant to send the letter. That is until months later Christer asked why they’d yet to post his heart felt request. The letter was sent and amazingly King Harald V replied.

Sadly, the King could not change Christer’s name, but not because the change would result in a child running around with a ridiculous video game character’s title. No, the request was rejected for the sole reason that at six-years-old, Christer was not old enough to make such a decision. Thus, the boy must contact King Harald V in twelve years time once he’s turned 18.

Christer admitted that he was disappointed, explaining that “it was a bit bad.”

First 2010 Sega Consoles

Now that new Sega West president Mike Hayes is in place, we here at Sonic Retro must say we’re immediately pleased with his work. Pulling a Marty McFly on us, clearly Hayes went back in time to alter a 1991 issue of French magazine Club Sega to get us exclusive shots of Sega’s upcoming 2010 console!

Simon Jeffery Leaves Sega Of America

An expert at putting his foot in his mouth and insulting his company’s biggest fanbase, SEGA of America President and Co-Owner, Simon Jeffery, has packed his bags at SEGA. Jeffery will become an executive at iPhone developer and publisher “ngmoco,” a company founded last year by a former EA executive, Neil Young.

Jeffery has made it well known that he loves the iPhone. While the move might seem idiotic on the surface for a president of SEGA to move into another role at a smaller company, the move is likely a simple pursuit of interests. Whatever might have sparked Jeffery’s departure from SEGA, I know that some people are having a party regardless.

Jeffery will lead ngmoco’s Plus+ (redundant, much?) publishing group, “which integrates social networking and cross-promotional options into games.

Sega Announces Sonic & All-Star Racing

Here is a quote about the new Sonic game coming out next year in 2010 from Sonic Retro the second only to sega!

Sonic races his way back onto consoles"Sega announced Sonic and friends are getting back behind the wheel for some fast-paced kart racing craziness.

Sega of Europe unveiled the title today through their Sonic City Blognik in what can be considered a spiritual sequel to the two Sonic Drift titles on Game Gear. The title features characters from the Sonic franchise such as Sonic, Tails, Amy and Dr. Robotnik along with other Sega All-Stars like AiAi and Amigo as well as other unannounced competitors speeding for the finish line in a racer aiming to give Mario Kart a serious run for its money. Characters can utilize cars, planes and motorbikes around the tracks to offer different styles of racing.

“Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing is no ordinary racing game. Its huge variety of characters and vehicles, plus the ability to play both online and off set it apart from other games of this type” said Gary Knight, European Marketing Director of SEGA Europe Ltd. “The team have pushed the boundaries on what you would normally expect and created a different and unique party racing title whereby you really can’t take anything for granted!”

Characters have access to special moves called All-Star moves to gain edges in races, such as Super Sonic, Banana Blitz and Tails Tornado. Power ups and weapons can also be collected around the tracks and used against the opposition to ensure they don’t become a threat to that number one position. In addition to a single player mode, the title features a multiplayer mode as well, allowing up to four friends to race in split-screen action, or up to eight players to compete online.

By way of U.K. Resistance, Richard Jacques of Sonic R and Sonic 3D Blast fame is supposedly working on the music in this title. More on this as it becomes available.

The title is expected to come out on PS3, 360, Wii and DS in early 2010 and will likely be featured at Sega’s E3 booth in Los Angeles next week."

Happy Birthday Neji!

WOOHOO! I think it was Neji's birthday a few days ago so at least we can celebrate! There's some vauluble info on him!

Happy Birhday, Neji!
"Ever feel like giving a character a hug, even if that's the last thing the character would want? Well, this week is your chance, because on July 3 we honor Neji -- tough in mind and body, yet burdened by a sad childhood that haunted him until he was matched up against a certain free-spirited ninja during the Chunin exams... It's always the brooding loners that need the most love, so download the new Neji character data wallpaper and send some happy birthday thoughts his way! He'll surely prefer them over the antics of Guy and Rock Lee...

---

Happy Birthday, Neji Hyuga!

We bet not all Neji’s birthdays have been happy. This guy had a pretty rough childhood -- growing up as a member of the side-branch of the Hyuga family, and watching his own father die for the sake of clan politics [Episode 61: "Ultimate Defense: Zero Blind Spot!"]. When we first met him, he was convinced no one has a chance to alter their fate. And considering the circumstances, you could hardly blame the guy.

But getting beaten by Leaf’s number-one knucklehead neatly turned his world-view upside down. If a goofball like Naruto could make something more of himself, anything is possible, right? [Episode 62: "A Failure’s True Power!"]

Since then, the Hyuga clan’s star pupil has been a lot easier to live with. We’re sure Hinata Hyuga appreciates it, since she used to be the primary target for her angry relative’s attitude [Episode 46: "Byakugan Battle: Hinata Grows Bold!"]. Neji’s even managed to fit in smoothly as a member of Might Guy’s squad, an assignment that calls for a… resilient sense of humor, you might say. They make a better match than you might expect – at times like their pursuit of the illusionary Akatsuki, it’s Neji’s insight that tells Guy and Rock Lee exactly what they need to punch [Shippuden Episode 30, "Aesthetics of an Instant"].

A guy who’s come this far deserves a celebration, that’s for sure. Heck, make it a surprise party. There’s no way Neji won’t see it coming a mile away (359-degree vision, remember?), but he’d probably appreciate the thought.

There's Something About Kakashi

The Naruto website has been updated recently and I found a very interesting post straight from the official website of naruto and as you might notice It's about the preimere of Kakashi Chronicles featuring him! This is what they official said:

"As part of our countdown to the Kakashi Chronicles special, we're featuring a few articles about the master ninja. Today our writer David F. Smith weighs in about what makes the character special.]

Serious Kakashi
What is it that makes Kakashi Hatake such a hit? It might be the fact that there isn’t just one Kakashi. He has some layers to his personality. Every time we think we know him, he turns around and shows us a different face.

Early in the series, we meet Kakashi the teacher, the stern ninja master who rides herd on Naruto’s squad. This Kakashi’s fun because he’s a foil for the heroes. In the middle of a series full of inexperienced apprentice ninja running amuck, he’s the one who really knows what he’s doing. (Not to mention the one who’s strong enough to pull off the coolest hidden jutsu.)

Soon enough, though, the cracks in the stoic masked-hero facade start to show. That’s when we get to meet his softer side – Kakashi the jokester, the lackadaisical goof-off who drops everything to read the latest Make-Out Paradise. As the main characters grow up (a little bit), they move a touch towards equal terms with their teacher -- and he's pretty proud of their progress, even if he doesn't always say it.

He never quite loses that aura of mystery, though. That’s what works so well about Kakashi’s origin story, the short flashback tale in the Naruto manga that bridged the gap to the events we see in Shippuden. We learn a lot more about him in the Kakashi Chronicles, in terms of simple facts – about his life as a rank-and-file Konoha ninja, about the friends he fought alongside in his younger days, about where that mysterious left eye came from. At the same time, though, he becomes a more distant character in the process.

Kind Kakashi
The truth about his past adds a new intriguing layer between Kakashi and us, the audience. He’s still very funny when he dishes out the comic relief, but we may find ourselves bemused as we laugh, now that we know what that part of his personality is covering up.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing, though. Kakashi may have a persona for every occasion, but the one-eyed man of mystery remains a fan favorite. If he ever lost every last bit of that mystique…well, now that would be a real tragedy.
